Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Technician Advanced - Water (SRTA W)
This advanced SRT extension course takes your skills to the next level. All techniques mastered in the SRT program are applied in demanding, high-risk scenarios designed to reflect real-world rescue operations. Participants dive deep into advanced rope systems, execute complex rescue maneuvers, and train in nighttime search and rescue (SAR) environments.
A valid SRT certification is required to enroll.
Originally developed by Rescue 3 in 1979, this is the pioneering swiftwater rescue course and remains the industry benchmark to this day.
The course is certified by Rescue 3 Europe / International and meets NFPA standards.

Course Aims
The SRT A course builds on the SRT foundation and focuses on advanced swiftwater rope rescue skills. After a brief review of core techniques, training continues in the river environment at night, including night search operations. The course aims to provide rescuers with thorough knowledge of swiftwater rope rescue techniques, self-rescue skills in vertical terrain, and a clear understanding of the dangers and challenges of night operations. Emphasis is placed on technical and vertical rescues in demanding environments such as river gorges, bridges, and flood barriers, as well as search and rescue activities conducted after dark.

.Certification:
After successful completion of the course, your SRT certification will be valid for three years. The office of the Whitewater Training Center Baumgarten and Rescue 3 Europe will keep a record of your certification.
The course will be conducted in German and English.

What to bring
Swimming is a significant part of the course, so please come properly equipped with the following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
- Good wetsuit or drysuit
- Appropriate footwear
- Whitewater helmet
- Whitewater life jacket/PFD
- Throw bags and knife
If you are missing any items from this list, please inform us in advance so we can arrange replacements.
Rescue equipment such as: Throwbag, Karabiners, Pulleys, Slings etc. are available from us.

meeting point and date
The meeting point for the Whitewater Rescue Technician course is the Outdoor Center Baumgarten at Baumgarten 1, 83458 Schneizlreuth. The date and time will be announced at a later date.
Accommodation / Meals:
You are responsible for your own accommodation during the course. There is the option to book rooms at the Outdoor Center Baumgarten, and we are happy to assist you with this.
You are responsible for your own lunch. There are restaurants and several grocery stores within walking distance.However, we recommend bringing a lunch package and some snacks for the day, especially if you plan to take a lunch break by the river.
